Year 12 Student Learning Conferences

Year 12 Student Learning Conferences were held on August 1st, 2024. Recognising the diverse needs and preferences of our families, we implemented a hybrid model for this year's conferences, allowing parents and guardians to choose between in-person and remote attendance. We believe this approach significantly enhanced accessibility and convenience, enabling more families to participate actively in their child's learning journey. We are immensely proud to offer this flexible format and extend our sincere gratitude to our dedicated teachers for their exceptional efforts in making these conferences a success. Their commitment to providing quality feedback and support to our students and families is truly commendable.

Learning Behaviour Reports

As Term 3 progresses, Learning Behaviour Reports will soon be made available to parents and guardians. We encourage open and constructive conversations following these reports to support students in improving their learning behaviours and achieving their full potential.

Subject Selection for 2025

Subject selection for Years 8 to 11 students took place over the past fortnight. We believe strongly in the importance of student choice and aspirations. Our dedicated staff provided comprehensive guidance to ensure students made informed decisions aligned with their individual goals. This occurred at Futures Expo on Monday, 22 July and subsequently in Year 9 and 10 personalised subject selection interviews with students and their parents.

Year 12 VCE VM Excursions

Our Year 12 VCE VM class recently embarked on two enriching excursions as part of their studies on the Sustainable Development Goals. The first excursion took students to The Big Issue in the city, where they gained valuable insights into homelessness and explored ways to support those experiencing homelessness. The second excursion led them to a Pakenham nursery managed by the Cardinia Environment Coalition. Students actively participated in planting, gardening, and mulching, contributing to the nursery's efforts to attract beneficial insects, reduce erosion, and cultivate new plant life.

SIS Teen Chef Competition

On August 1st, four talented students from our Vet Hospitality program, undertaking Certificate II in Hospitality/Kitchen Operations, represented our school at the annual SIS Teen Chef Competition. This prestigious event, modelled after the popular MasterChef format, provides a platform for students to showcase their culinary skills and passion for the hospitality industry. While our students didn't claim a victory this year, their exceptional efforts and dedication were truly commendable.

We are immensely proud of our students' achievements and involvement in these various activities. Their commitment to learning, community engagement, and personal growth exemplifies the values we uphold at our school.

VET teacher, Ms Jeannette Valencia, who coached our students, shared,

“I witnessed firsthand how the students developed their skills, practising over several weeks throughout lunch breaks and in their own time at home. Thank you, Elizabeth Rode, Zachary Tan, Cooper Dixon and Ryan Wendland, for your hard work and dedication.  Well done team.”
