What a massive whirl wind to the start of our term. The students in years 2, 3 and 4 have been incredibly busy with many activities and exciting learning opportunities!

The class had a blast celebrating NAIDOC Week with the other small schools at Gralee. They participated in Aboriginal dances, learnt some words in the Wiradjuri language and played some traditional Indigenous games.

"I enjoyed doing the art activities. We used Indigenous symbols to create a story on scratch boards. I liked the games, there was one where you had to tap the other team with a ball. I also really enjoyed the cookies!" - Dante

It was about kids walking down to the riverbank and all different types of animals were telling them not to go down there because there is a big, hairy monster that likes to eat kids. They didn't listen and they went to the riverbank and they saw a platypus and the platypus said, 'don't swim in here because there is a big hairy, monster that likes to eat little kids' but they went swimming anyway." - Lilly

"I enjoyed learning about the dance and the digeridoo. I liked stomping like a kangaroo, and we danced like a cockatoo." - Piper

As a part of our science unit this term, our class will be attempting to grow mushrooms. We will be learning about the history of mushrooms, the different parts to them, their life cycle and most importantly, how to eat them! To kick us off we have discussed what we know about mushrooms already and created an artwork to inspire our learning.

In maths we have been delving into data. we have been learning about how to interpret and pull information from different types of graphs and learning different key features of different graphs. For example, some graphs have a key which helps us to understand what different symbols mean and provides extra information. We have been learning how to read pictographs where the picture represents more than one person. We conducted our own survey on the classes favourite fruit and created our own pictographs to represent the data.
