What's happening?
Olympic Celebrations
During the past week, students have been learning about all things Olympic. Some classes have being discussing sports, others have been tallying the medals, the Reception and Year 1 students all worked together to make torches, lanterns and flags and many classes have watched some of the highlights of events. The Preschool children even had their own Olympic obstacle course. Today we encouraged students to Go Green & Gold to give our support to our Olympians. Thanks to everyone who did this. It was a fun end to our week.
Scholastic Book Fair
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is coming! Below is some information from Carla explaining when students can make their wish list and but some books and other items.
Para Vista’s annual Scholastic Book Fair is nearly here and will be held in the library, from Wednesday 7/8 until Friday 9/8. For our new families, the Book Fair is an exciting event
that engages students and promotes literacy. It’s a fantastic opportunity for your child to explore a huge range of affordable books featuring characters and subjects they love and want to read about. Books range from newly released books, bestsellers, award-winning titles and never-ending favourites. An amazing added bonus is that every book sold benefits our school by adding resources to our library and classrooms.
The Fair supplies a wide range of items for sale. This includes books, diaries, posters, pens, pencils, erasers, highlighters, sharpeners and more! Students will be provided with a pamphlet and a wish list prior to the Fair which gives parents and families the opportunity to view some of the amazing items for purchase.
Students are able to visit the library on Wednesday 7/8 with their class to have a look at what the Fair has to offer. During this time, they are encouraged to write the details of books and other items that capture their attention on the wish list. This allows parents to view what interests their child and assist in deciding on purchases.
This year, on Thursday 8/8 and Friday 9/8, students will be able to purchase during the school day and after school from 3 – 3.30pm. Parents are welcome to come with their children, explore what the Fair has to offer and make purchases. Payments can be made using cash in a sealed envelope, EFTPOS located in the admin office during school hours & in the library after hours, or you can purchase by ordering online. Online order information can be found on the pamphlet supplied to your child.
For families that are purchasing at the Fair, if books that your child would like to purchase are sold out, I can order them in so your child will not miss out. This is only available for book purchases. Unfortunately, there are no holds or IOU’s.
Looking forward to an exciting and successful Book Fair!!
Thank you,
Carla
Thrive With Five
In the first 1000 days of a child's life, their brain grows really fast. Every time they see, hear, or touch something, it helps their brain make new connections. Eating healthy food and getting good sleep are very important because they help the child grow strong. When parents show love and care, it helps the child feel safe and learn to trust others. Playing and exploring help children learn to talk and become curious, which makes learning easier as they get older.
Families benefit from a supportive community, ensuring both they and the child thrive. Our school is part of a supportive community, and we want to partner with families to shape a lifetime of benefits for every child.
Below is some information about the important five: play, talk, read, eat well and sleep. Share these ideas with friends and family. Be a ripple for a bright future!
