All schools involved played with a lot of skill and team spirit.

Our SAPSASA boys showed tremendous spirit and teamwork despite limited preparation time. They competed valiantly throughout the day against teams that had been playing together for years.

While we didn’t advance to the next round, the boys gained invaluable experience playing against seasoned athletes. Although we didn't secure a win, our students' exemplary behavior and conduct were commendable.

We extend special thanks to Straun Morter-Grant and Lynton Tierney for volunteering their time to coach the boys. A big thank you also goes to our scorer, Philippa, who generously volunteered her time. The support from families is crucial to the success of these events, and we are deeply grateful.

Girls SAPSASA Basketball Competition

On Wednesday of Week 3, Alice, Chloe, Christabelle, Elsa, Isabelle, Kerry, Martina, and Millie, along with their Team Manager Elise and Coach Dani, participated in the 2024 SAPSASA Basketball Competition at the Wayville State Basketball Center.

Throughout the day, we played five pool matches, with the following results:

  • Win against East Adelaide (16-2)
  • Win against Mitcham (20-18)
  • Win against Westbourne Park (26-12)
  • Loss against Fulham North (12-33)

Finishing 2nd in our pool, we then faced the top team from Pool 2—Brighton, who were undefeated in their pool.

In an exciting game, we emerged victorious, making us one of only two teams to advance to the next round. This victory is historic, as it marks the first time a Magill School team under Coach Dani has progressed to the Statewide Schools Final, which will take place on Wednesday, October 30th, at the State Basketball Center.

The team's ability, attitude, effort, and persistence were exceptional, leading to an outstanding achievement both on and off the court.

Girls and Boys SAPSASA Soccer

On Thursday the 15th of August, our Year 5/6 boys' and girls' soccer teams competed in Round 2 of the Statewide Schools Knockout at the Campbelltown City Soccer Club. Both teams entered the tournament with dedication and determination, having trained 2-3 times per week. Their hard work was evident, though the anticipation of tougher competition made them a bit nervous.

The girls' team faced a challenging start, narrowly losing their first game to Hillcrest. However, they bounced back with a strong performance, earning a well-deserved victory over Walkerville, a team that had defeated them in Round 1. Despite their best efforts, they were ultimately outplayed by a very experienced St. Joseph's Hectorville team.

The boys' team faced a difficult rematch against Trinity Gardens but, unfortunately, couldn't secure a win this time. Their next match against Nailsworth saw them dominate the game with many more chances, yet they narrowly lost 1-0. However, they ended the day on a high note with a commanding victory in a derby against Stradbroke.

Both teams displayed incredible spirit and determination, never giving up, no matter the challenges they faced. We are extremely proud of how they represented our school, supporting one another and working hard as a team. We are very grateful to have been able to coach such a great group.
