ABODA Band Festival

On Wednesday the14th of August, the Magill School Concert Band participated in the Junior Band Section of the ABODA Band Festival at Westminster School, under the expert direction of Nick Vladcoff from Instrumental Music. The band showcased their talents with three pieces for adjudication, beginning with their set-piece, Against the Clock by Jay Coles—a thrilling musical journey filled with suspenseful dynamic contrasts and dramatic tempo changes. They continued with Snow (Yuki) by Robert Buckley and concluded with Robert W. Smith’s Furioso, creating a memorable performance.

Congratulations to everyone on achieving the Gold Award for the second year in a row! The students' effort, hard work, and dedication to the ensemble are truly commendable, and their outstanding representation of Magill School in the broader community is something to be proud of.

A special thank you goes out to our front office team, school leaders, and staff for their unwavering support, encouragement, and commitment. We also extend our deepest appreciation to our incredible parent volunteers—Garima, Lynton, and Camilla—whose contributions were invaluable to our success.

The band eagerly looks forward to their upcoming performances at the Performing Arts Assembly in Week 10 and the Instrumental Music Concert in Term 4. I encourage everyone to attend and experience the exceptional talent of our musicians.
