Pakenham Eels Rugby Team Information Session
On Monday, 22nd July, Pakenham Eels Rugby League Club President, Mr Jason Buchanan, visited our College to speak to our students about the benefits of Rugby League, as well as the different pathways and opportunities that the sport has to offer for young people.
Some of the key benefits that Mr Buchanan mentioned were that being part of a rugby league team builds resilience, shows you how to work well in a team and how to work harder. Off the field these benefits continue by developing your work ethic and how hard we can apply ourselves.
Mr Buchanan also spoke about other opportunities in the rugby league world – not just playing – but moving into Sports Science, looking at training schedules, game statistics, structuring training for the individual by looking at their speed and other areas, the management side of the sport, coaching, as well as support areas such as administration and marketing.
He discussed the different pathways; local rugby league to representative – building good habits and getting into routines and structures and moving on to state level.
Mr Buchanan finished his speech with information about the opportunities for players in Victoria for both the NRL and NRLW.
The students were then treated to a pizza lunch!
We are extremely grateful to Mr Buchanan for his time and insight into Rugby League and all it has to offer.
We will be holding a sign-up session on Monday, 29th July for our Rugby teams. Please come along to LC3 at lunchtime. All students are welcome.
Staff vs Students
We are excited to announce that our next Staff vs Students tournament is imminent – the score is currently Staff 3 Students 0. Will the students stage a comeback? Or will the staff team once again prove too strong? This time, our sport of choice is NETBALL.
