Library News – Week 2

Please don’t forget that all students come to the library on Monday for their borrowing and returning. The library is also opened every 2nd half lunchtime, Monday to Friday, for the students to borrow or return their books.

Book Donating for Education Week

Whilst we will be celebrating Book Week during week 5 of this term (see below for details), we will be having book donating during our Education Week celebrations on Tuesday, 6 August

On this day, we will have a large range of new books available for donating to our library.  Visitors will be most welcome to come to the library with their child/ren to select a new book to donate back to the library.  There will be a large selection of new books for donation, and books will range in price from $5 to $25.

The child who donates the new book will be the first one to borrow that book and a special book plate (sticker) with the child’s name will be placed in the front of the book.  Over the years, many families have been very generous with donating, and this ensures our library is filled with beautiful books.

If you are unable to come on the day but would still like to donate, please complete the form below and return it to school with your child/ren.  Your child/ren will be invited to the library to select books that they will then be able to borrow first.

Donating will continue until week 5 to give everyone plenty of opportunity to select books for donating.

Please complete the form and return to the school box if you are unable to attend on education day and would like your child to select a book. Thank you.

Book Week 2024

19 - 23  August 2024

‘Reading is Magic’

Once again, we will be celebrating Book Week in Term 3, Week 5, (Monday 19 August).  Book Week is an annual celebration of books for children and young adults. We celebrate a love of reading and all that books have to offer. The theme for this year’s book week is ‘Reading is Magic’ and we will be talking in library about the magic of books.

During our library lesson children will be completing a ‘Reading is Magic’ page for display in the library.  They will draw pictures of their favourite book covers, characters, or scenes from a book.  These will be on display in the library.

Book Character Parade – Monday, 19 August (Week 5)

Children are encouraged to come to school dressed as a book character where we will have a short parade beginning at 9.10am.

We ask that children dress up in a simple costume that reflects a favourite book/story character.  Costumes do not need to be elaborate, or store bought, and, if it is possible just use items from home.  This is a fun day when children can enjoy ‘stepping into someone else’s shoes’.

Happy Reading
