Principal's Message

Mr Cameron Jones

Term 3

It is wonderful to be back to Roselea PS! Seeing the smiling faces of our children warmly greet me each morning is certainly something that I have missed. My time away has certainly cemented in my mind how lucky I am to work at Roselea PS.

I would like to thank Mrs Hall, the executive team and the entire staff at Roselea whose commitment and dedication continued to push our school forward. I work with fantastic colleagues and the way they dealt with external changes whilst always putting students first is a credit to them and the culture we have at Roselea.

Term 3 is always a busy term filled with many events and opportunities for the community to be involved in the life of the school.

Athletics Carnival

Unfortunately we had to yet again cancel our athletics carnival today. I came to look at the grounds on Saturday afternoon and they were bad. One day just wasn't enough time for them to dry out.

Due to the fact we have a very busy term 3 schedule, this may mean we have to rethink our carnival. We may have to run track and field events on different days. We are looking at possible options and dates and will communicate these to you as soon as we know.

Education week

We will be celebrating Education Week on Tuesday 6th August (week 3). The theme for Education Week this year is proud to belong.

We warmly invite all parents and guardians to join us in celebrating the achievements of our students and the invaluable work of our teachers. The plan for the day is below:

Time Event Description
8.30-9.15amCommunity breakfast

Please join us for a light breakfast. There will also be a coffee van.

9.15-10.00amOpen classrooms

Each classroom will have interactive activities set up for you to join in with your children. Explore the learning together and have your child show you around their classroom.

10-10.45am Education Week Assembly

Please join us for our Education Week assembly on the basketball court. As part of the assembly, we will be having special awards and performances.

10.45-11.25am Picnic recess

Enjoy recess with your child, maybe see if you can beat them at handball. There will also be other performances happening at recess for you to enjoy.

Night of the Stars! Creative and Performing Arts Performance Night

As mentioned last week with the save the date sent via enews, this term we will be holding our first Creative Arts Performance Evening.

Carlingford HS have kindly let us use their hall for the event which will showcase the talents of our students. Each class has specialised Creative and Performing Arts lessons each week with Mrs Clements and this evening will showcase every student’s hard work across the term. It will also provide another opportunity for our band, choir and dance groups to perform.

We want all students to be a part of this performance so kindly ask that you rearrange any commitments that you may have on the evening. The students are so excited, and it will be great to have a full hall of spectators for them to perform in front of.

Date: Week 10, Thursday 26th September

Start time: 6.15pm

Finish time: 7.45pm

More information will come out throughout the term.

Congratulations Mr Chong!

It makes me so proud to see the contributions of Mr Andrew Chong recognised by Metropolitan North Executive Director, Cathy Brennan. On Thursday 4 July, Mr Chong received an award from the Executive Director as recognition for the significant contributions he has made and continues to make within our school community. Mrs Hall nominated Mr Chong and I fully endorse the nomination. I would like to share with you a paragraph from the nomination form:

Andrew displays trust and integrity through all his interactions with the school community, consistently presenting a professional and approachable demeanour. He ensures students receive the best possible education and are challenged and engaged. Andrew makes learning enjoyable, meaningful and instils a love of learning in everyone he meets.
