RE NEWS

Congratulations to the students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Friday evening. It was a lovely evening with our Sacred Heart families and I wish to commend the students for the way in which they were respectful and reverent in their approach to this special occasion in their lives.

A big thank you to Eva, Tazlyn, Jazlyn, Laura, Kaitlyn (the sisters of students who made their Confirmation) for singing so beautifully in the choir on the night of Confirmation. A special mention to Brenton and Chloe who also came along to sing - despite not having a family member making their Confirmation - giving up their night to share their singing talents with the Sacred Heart community.

WELLBEING NEWS

On Wednesday the 31st of July, all staff at Sacred Heart took part in a Professional Learning Day. This day  saw us exploring the current research and practices regarding mental health and wellbeing. This will help us continue to improve the experience of our students at Sacred Heart.

The day focused on Social and Emotional Learning using a framework of 5 main competencies.

We examined current research on student engagement and the links to wellbeing, which we are looking forward to exploring further. We also looked at strategies to promote and teach self regulation and ways co-regulation can assist us as teachers! We also refreshed our practice of restorative conversations that assist our students when conflict arises or in a disagreement with others.

There was an opportunity to take part and share ways brain and movement breaks assist our students.

We examined wellbeing data from student surveys in Foundation to Year 6 - planning in our teams to provide wellbeing support that address different areas of our students social and emotional learning.

We packed a lot into a really beneficial day -no wonder I was so tired last night!!

Take Care,
