PERFORMING ARTS

We are excited that Peter Combe is coming to our school to perform on Wednesday the 21st of August, so we have been singing along to his great songs every lesson:

Newspaper Mama, Wash Your Face With Orange Juiceand so many more

Even the teachers are getting excited and bringing in their copies of his cassettes (from when they were a lot younger) for Peter to sign. Peter will also have copies of his CDs and DVDs available to buy. Details to follow.

In the classroom Years 3-6 are continuing their drama lessons learning about improvisation and working in teams to create a short film. We are having lots of fun with this and quite a few students have mentioned how they would like to take on a major role in next year's production. Talk about planning!!

Years 1 & 2 are working on presenting a puppet play. At the moment they are adapting old fairy tales and changing them around. Puppets bring out the voices in students. And they learn about improvisation too as often the narrator forgets what happens next in the story.

Foundation are looking at different sounds made by instruments. And this week we are going to get the Ukeleles off the wall and have a bit of a jam. They have spent a long time looking at the little guitars and asking about them so it’s time to give them a go. In the coming weeks, we will explore instruments in the classroom.
