RPS COMMUNITY SPORT

Check out our Ripper basketball and netball teams playing in community tournaments. They’ve all had a fantastic season!

If any other kids are playing team sport where the team is heavily Ripponlea kids, please email Sarah Billens sarahbilly@yahoo.com and we can get them in next season’s update.

Ripper Rattlesnakes (Year 2 boys):

Year 2 boys, the Ripper Rattlesnakes, won their final in a thrilling nail-biter to claim the season championship! Thanks Coach Chris and PK.

Ripper Stars (Year 3 girls):

Ripper Stars girls won their final in a nail biting 15-18, coming back in the last 4 minutes. They ended up 5th on the ladder, an impressive jump after finishing at the bottom last season. Thanks so much to coach Kaine.

Ripponlea Stars (Year 3 boys):

Year 3 boys Ripponlea Stars have had a strong season and playing for 3rd place. Thanks Coach Steve.

Rocking Rippers (Year 5 girls):

After winning the grand final last semester, the grade 5 girls’ basketball team, the Rocking Rippers, were moved up a division. They were scheduled to battle it out for 3rd position before the break, only to have the game cancelled on them. Regardless of where they finish on the ladder, we are so proud of their grit, determination and team spirit. Thanks coach Luke!

Ripper Comets (Year 6 girls):

Ripper Comets finished their season with a 20-3 win. Thanks to Coach Rich for all his hard work.

CELEBRATING SPECIAL PERSON'S DAY

 FRIDAY 23 AUGUST

In a world where diversity is increasingly recognised and celebrated, it's essential to reflect on the various ways we honour and appreciate the special individuals in our lives. As we navigate through an era of evolving family structures and societal norms, it's become evident that the traditional labels of Mother's Day and Father's Day may not fully capture the breadth of relationships and support systems that exist.

This is why our School Council made a conscious decision last year to embrace the concept of Special Person's Day. Special Person's Day is a day dedicated to recognising and celebrating the important individuals who play significant roles in our student's lives, regardless of their gender or biological relationship. Whether it's a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, guardian, mentor, or friend, Special Person's Day acknowledges the diverse array of individuals who contribute to their growth, happiness, and well-being.

The decision to move away from exclusively celebrating Mother's Day and Father's Day stems from a desire to be more inclusive and mindful of the diverse family structures and dynamics present in today's society and in our very own little community.

Families come in all shapes and sizes, and they are formed through love, support, and shared experiences rather than biological ties alone.

By embracing Special Person's Day, we affirm our commitment to honouring and respecting the unique relationships and connections that enrich our student's lives.

FETE ORGANISATION VOLUNTEER NEEDED

Planning for our biennial school fete is underway.

However, we are still seeking a volunteer to lead the organisation of the entertainment portion of the fete.

This will involve organising hire equipment, having acts for the day etc.

Some preliminary work has already been done on this, but we need someone to step up and help us out.

If you think you could take this on please reach out to us on ripperfamilies@gmail.com
