Construction Immersion Class

Fence Replacement Project – Part 1

The Construction Immersion class at Marist College Ashgrove has embarked on an exciting and real-life practical project: replacing an old 20-metre section of fence at one of our boarding houses. Given the neighbouring property has a pool, the class has adjusted their schedule to work all day on five consecutive Fridays, rather than every second Friday, to expedite the project.

So far, the students have dedicated two full Fridays to the task. They have successfully and safely removed the old fence, installed temporary fencing, surveyed the site for the new fence, and excavated holes for the new 50 x 50 galvanized posts, which were concreted in place last week.

Each day begins with Mr Ben Cribb, our qualified builder and lead construction teacher, guiding the students through the planning process. He ensures that the students load all necessary equipment and materials into the Trade Training Toyota Hilux Utility, generously sponsored by SciFleet Toyota, and the tool trailer, previously sponsored by Nathan Trailers.

You may have noticed our students proudly wearing their TradeMutt Tradie uniforms. These uniforms not only look professional but also promote and support mental health, aligning with the values of TradeMutt. For more information, visit TradeMutt.

We are incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work our students are putting into this project. Stay tuned for more updates as the project progresses!
