Principal's message

Olympic Fever

It’s been fantastic to see our students embrace the Olympics, which has given our staff many incidental learning opportunities in the classroom. This has included cultural aspects, discussions focussing on sportsmanship, medal tallies, biographies, news updates and athlete profiles, to name but a few. The success of our Australian athletes has added to the hype, which has also generated a lot of interest in sports which we may not often encounter. Our Olympic theme was highlighted with our first Alvie Potato Olympics on Friday. A successful morning for all student's as their Potato Athletes competed in a number of events from diving to shotput.

Book Week Parade - Friday 23rd August

As part of our book week celebrations, our annual Book Week Parade will take place on Friday 23rd of August. There will be a Book Week Parade from 9am, with parents/grandparents/carers and siblings most welcome to attend.Students are encouraged to come as their favourite book character or related to the CBCA 2024 Book Week theme - Reading is Magic!  We encourage students to carry the book or printout of the book cover that their costume relates to for ease of character identification. This event is looked forward to by many of our students  and some parents, but we appreciate that it is dreaded by many parents and some students.  Please don't make finding/creating a costume stressful or an expensive affair.  For any outfit or costume you have there will be a book it can relate to!  Recycling/upcycling/borrowing of costumes highly recommended.  You do not have to buy anything if you don't want to.  The dress up day is not a competition for best dressed but to celebrate the diversity of characters in books and the magic that books bring to our lives.

Netball update

Congratulations to our Under 11Brolga's netball team, who on Friday evening played in the semi-final and unfortunately went down by 1 goal.

Congratulations to all our other Alvie representative teams this year in the Under 9's and Under 13's. A BIG thank you to all our coaches, managers, time keepers and scorers.

We'll see you all again in 2025.
