Principal Report

Mr. Lehane

Welcome back to Term 3!

It has been a very busy start to Term 3 but thankfully the saying many hands make light work has never been more true. With Madeline Langley and Ashley Stow on board as Teacher Aides there are definitely more helping hands around the school. Both Maddie and Ash are studying to become teachers and bring their own unique set of skills and experiences to our school.

It is fantastic to have Madeline Langley on board full-time supporting students in her role as a Teacher Aide. Madeline has previously worked at Bridgewater Primary School and plays netball for Bridgewater. the students have been very pleased to have Maddie back at the school, she brings fantastic energy and is always happy.

Ash has also signed on with our school until the end of the year and will continue to work three days a week as a Teacher Aide. Ash has also been a welcome addition to our school community as he has made excellent relationships with the students. A highlight of the day is seeing what Lego build Ash will bring in to show the students.

Clubs

This term we have introduced clubs on a Monday afternoon, Students had the opportunity to put their name down for a club. Clubs will give the students the opportunity to build upon their own strengths and interests while developing life skills.

  • Clubs for this term include Building and Construction Club
  • Tech/Minecraft Club
  • Cooking Club

In each of these clubs not only will students have the opportunity to complete hands on activities but they will learn to plan and apply knowledge and skills from the curriculum to real life tasks.

100 Days of School

Next Wednesday 31st July we are going to celebrate the Foundation Students first 100 days of school. Students will wear their normal school uniform and participate in a range of fun activities with Miss. Deane. All students will be given the opportunity to participate.

Smile Squad

Free dental van visit at the school in August Smile Squad dental packs

All children deserve a healthy smile, and the Smile Squad free school dental program is working hard to help make sure this happens.

Your child(ren) will receive a free dental pack to bring home. The dental pack contains a toothbrush, full sized toothpaste, and an oral health brochure. Please take the time to read the brochure. It’s full of helpful hints and tips to help your whole family eat well, drink well and clean well – for life.

Smile Squad provides standard strength fluoride toothpaste that is generally used by ages six and over, unless recommended by a dental or trained health professional.

If your child is under six, please talk to a dental or trained health professional to find out if your child might benefit from using this toothpaste. You can also choose to put the toothpaste away until they turn six or give it to someone else in your family to use.

Do I need to attend my child’s appointment?

No, you do not need to attend your child’s appointment. You can attend if you would like to, and you can take your child to the community dental clinic if you prefer.

The Bendigo Health Smile Squad team look forward to seeing you soon.
