Teacher Immersion Event

On Friday 19 July – One of our Economics teachers, Charmaine Leman attended the Reserve Bank of Australia’s annual Teacher Immersion Event at the H.C. Coombs Centre in Kirribilli. The event provides an excellent opportunity for Economics teachers from across Australia to expand their knowledge of current economic issues and deepen their understanding of economic concepts. Furthermore, the event provides a platform for teachers to engage in professional discussions with their peers and practising economists, including the Bank’s Ambassadors. The Reserve Bank recognises the need to support educators in increasing the economic literacy amongst the Australian population and subsequently invest considerably in providing teachers with the most recent data associated with the current challenges facing the Australian and global economies. The teachers heard interesting insights from the newly appointed, Deputy Governor, Andrew Hauser, who has recently arrived in Australia after spending decades with Bank of England and of course the newly appointed Governor of the RBA, Michelle Bullock. Most importantly, these insights can be shared with the Year 12 Economics students as they prepare for their final exams.
