Mrs Bronwyn Underwood
Dear Parents and Carers,
Last week, Mrs Amanda McNair and myself enjoyed a lovely evening at Manilla Preschool for the Kindergarten 2025 information night. It was wonderful to meet some new faces and chat with interested parents regarding what St Michael's has to offer. The information night was a timely reminder that enrolments for 2025 are now due. If you have a child commencing Kindergarten at St Michael's in 2025, please complete the enrolment form as soon as practicable. Enrolment packs can be collected from the Office or enrolment forms can be downloaded from our website. Transition for Kindergarten 2025 will be held in Term 4. A huge thankyou to Manilla Preschool for their continued support of our school.
Also last week, we held our monthly P&F meeting. The time of 3.15p.m. is proving popular, with some additional parents able to join the meeting, which was fabulous. The P&F will meet again on Wednesday September 11. We look forward to seeing you there if you are able to attend.
Congratulations to our students who competed at the Diocesan Athletics Carnival in Tamworth on Friday August 9. It was wonderful to watch our children compete and show fabulous sportsmanship. Well done to Miller Burke, who has been selected to represent the Armidale Diocese at the Polding Carnival to be held at Glendale on Friday September 13. Miller will compete in the Junior High Jump.
Rehearsals for our upcoming musical are well underway. The Manilla Town Hall will be the venue and we are looking forward to a wonderful evening of song, dancing and acting on Thursday eveni September 26. Well done to the students who have worked so hard to learn lines, words to songs and dance steps. Great team work everyone. This musical involves all students in Years 3-6. The children in K-2 will present a Christmas Pageant in Term 4.
The annual satisfaction survey of parents, students and staff will be conducted on behalf of all Catholic schools in the Diocese this term. The surveys are designed to gather feedback from parents, staff and students about our school and will be used to inform school improvement. Responses are confidential, and individuals can not be identified. The surveys will be launched via email on Monday, 26 August 2024 using the email addresses supplied to the school. If you do not receive an email with a link to the survey, you can access and complete the survey via the following link. https://www.research.net/r/StMichaelsManillaPARENT2024 The survey will close on Wednesday, 4 September 2024. Your honest and constructive feedback is always welcome.
This Saturday, August 24, St Michael's Parish will celebrate Fr Curran's 50th Anniversary of his Priestly Ordination. There will be a Parish Mass commencing at 11.00 a.m. Everyone is more than welcome to attend. The following week, on Thursday August 29, the children will attend Mass at 11.00 a.m. to celebrate this special occasion with Fr Curran and visiting priests. August 29 is the actual date of Fr Curran's Ordination. Again, you are most welcome to attend.
Please note, that a previously advertised PUPIL FREE Day at S Michael's for Friday August
30 has been postponed until Term 4. The first week of Term 4 will be PUPIL FREE on MONDAY OCTOBER 14 and TUESDAY OCTOBER 15. I apologise for any inconvenience caused. Friday August 30 will be our Fathers' Day Breakfast and Assembly.
Enjoy a fabulous week,
Bronwyn
