Foundation students have loved witnessing the transition of squishy, mouldable clay, through to fired almost indestructable objects to be treasured. I let the students know that I still have clay things made by my own children when they were little. This insight gave weight to the possibility that their Artwork will be treasured for many years to come.
Grade 1s have finished making their beautiful clay rainbows by using coloured oil pastel creating a spectrum of colour and beads and pipecleaners to hang their creations. So much concentration was required for careful threading and connecting our pipecleaners!
Grade 2's celebrated their achievements by making their own Olympic Medals. Although not made of real gold, they are equally as precious and gleefully worn for the rest of the day!
Grade 3 and 4s are so proud of their slugs and nudibranchs (sea slugs)! We have put so much work sculpting, painting and embellishing our creations and look forward to sharing them with you at our Festival of Hidden Treasures.
Clay handbuilding, or in our case, engineering is reaching impressive heights as the Grade 5 & 6 student's trophies grow in detail and attributes. We are getting very creative with our builds; showcasing our skills as well as sharing our pride in our achievements both grand and humble.
I look forward to sharing our Art Room news with you next time.
