Creating engaging health promotion events

This term, Year 9 Health & PE classes have held a health expo for year 7s and 8s. Topics for health expos were chosen by each class and included mental health, vaping and gambling. 

Groups of students in each class contributed different elements to the expo - our class had an incredible mascot called Brian the Brain, a promotional billboard, and several interactive games for year 8s to participate in. 

The expo was themed 'Minds in Motion', with a focus on mental health. This topic was supported by surveys taken by the class - most students said that they had not learned enough about mental health in school.

Many of the year 9s remember participating in a health expo when they were in year 7, so this was a great chance to offer the same experience to younger students.
