Student Guide: Setting Up Microsoft Tools on Your Personal Laptop
Introduction
This guide will walk you through the process of setting up Microsoft Office, Teams, and OneDrive on your personal laptop. These tools are essential for your academic success and will help you collaborate with classmates and instructors effectively.

Step 1: Sign in with Your Student Account
- Have your Nossal HS student email address and password ready
- Visit office.com
- Click "Sign In" and enter your student credentials
- If prompted for multi-factor authentication, follow the security steps
Step 2: Installing Microsoft Office
For Windows Users:
- Once signed in to office.com, click “Install Office” button at the top of the page
- Select "Office 365 Apps”
- The installer will download automatically
- Double-click the downloadable file to begin installation
- Follow the installation wizard prompts
- Wait for installation to complete (15-30 minutes)
For Mac Users:
- After signing in to office.com, click “Install Office”
- Select "Office 365 Apps”
- The installer package will download
- Open the downloaded .pkg file
- Follow the installation steps
- Enter your Mac password when prompted
- Wait for installation to complete
Step 3: Setting Up Microsoft Teams
- Visit teams.microsoft.com
- Click "Download Teams"
- Choose the desktop app version for your operating system
- Run the installer once downloaded
- Sign in using your student email
- Allow notifications when prompted
- Teams will automatically configure your account settings
Step 4: Configuring OneDrive
- OneDrive comes pre-installed on Windows 10/11
- For Mac users, download OneDrive from onedrive.com
- Click the OneDrive icon in your taskbar/menu bar
- Sign in with your student email
- Choose the folder location for OneDrive
- Select which folders to sync
- Wait for initial sync to complete
- Ensure you have admin rights on your computer
- Free up disk space
- Temporarily disable antivirus
- Run Windows Update/macOS Update
