Improv BootCamp
On 30 October, Improv Bootcamp 2024 commenced for 5 weeks of intensive training. It consisted of 16 fabulous Year Seven and Eight students, working towards the Inaugural Improv Bootcamp Battle-night. Asha Cluer, an actor/ musician who trained in Australia and is a known performer in both Australia and London, ran the action-packed sessions, teaching us techniques and games to better improve our improvisation skills. Asha provided a fun, safe and non – judgemental environment and was a fantastic teacher.
Some highlights include watching the improvement of everyone’s skills, playing the games; filled with many hilarious moments, and the big showcase. The `Battle Night’ was an afterschool event where we could display our talents to invited friends and family. There were four different teams battling the improv games to win a grand prize - the `Golden Boot’. There were comedic moments, audience volunteers and guest judges. The guest judges included Ms LaVanda, Ms Gillham, Arianna Mecham (Arts Captain for 2025) and audience guest judge Ben.
It was close and tight competition but the `Zebra-bins’ took the lead, victorious with the `Golden Boot’. All teams did an amazing job and I would like to give a huge thanks, on behalf of all fully trained Improv Artists, to everyone who created and supported this very rewarding event.

The Addams Family 2025 Musical Production Update
Monday and Tuesday this week saw the Cast of The Addams Family immersed in the spooky, kooky world of what it’s like to be an Addams. The students committed themselves over these two days to work intensively through the songs, movement sequences and choreography of the entire script. We thank Shameem Taheri-Lee for her work so far as our vocal coach and the time she has devoted to this process. Mr Di Labio, Mrs Crocker and myself were impressed by the student’s knowledge of the script, their creative instincts and their enthusiasm towards the run through of the script. We worked solidly over these two days, concluding our session with a walk through of the Finale, creating much excitement amongst the team.
I would like to commend these students on their professional approach to our workshopping so far – the staff involved are constantly impressed by their creative insights. We wish the team a restful break and look forward to our journey together next year, which will culminate in our performances to the community in May.
The Cast have their next rehearsal at the end of the holidays, Friday 31 January 10 – 3:30pm.
Wishing you all a peaceful and joy filled Christmas Season.
