Academic Excellence Program

As the Academic Excellence Program for 2024 wraps up, I want to extend my gratitude to all the students who dedicated their time and effort to this year’s program. We had a record number of students participating in the Program this year. Your commitment has been commendable, and I hope you found joy in the challenges and gained valuable insights along the way.

This term, our students embraced their creativity with the exciting "Shark Tank" project. Their task was to invent an object or process that could enhance student life at St Norbert College. The ideas that emerged were innovative, inspiring, and sometimes amusing. Here are just a few highlights:

  • The Ultrathon 3000 – A diary holder designed for the back of toilet doors.
  • A Customisable Website – A platform that quickly links to Seqta, email, and an online calendar for managing homework.
  • The Global Pen – A pen that highlights text in your book and automatically transfers the notes to your digital notebook.
  • The Class Plug – A power bank that attaches to school desks, allowing students to charge their laptops without leaving their seat.
  • The Mobile Compost Bin – A special compost bin on wheels designed to feed a school vegetable garden.

The ideas were both creative and practical, and the student presentations were informative—and often very entertaining! After much deliberation, the students voted for their favourite idea, and Emali Davies' compost bin was crowned the winner. Congratulations to Emali, and I hope she enjoys her well-deserved prize!

Looking ahead, I’m excited to see how our students continue to grow, building confidence and honing their problem-solving skills. For those interested in joining the Academic Excellence Program in 2025, please keep an eye out for a direct message early next year with the Expression of Interest form.

A special thank you goes to Ms Linda Gillham for her unwavering support throughout the year.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a joyful holiday season!
