Performing Arts December Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As the year draws to a close, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support throughout this incredible year in The Arts. Your encouragement, enthusiasm, and dedication have been instrumental in making our Visual and Performing Arts program a success.

A special thank you goes to all who supported our end-of-year performance. The donations of costumes and props were valuable contributions that helped bring our students' creativity to life and will make the event a memorable celebration of their hard work and talent.

Your belief in the importance of The Arts has fostered an environment where imagination thrives, and our young artists have flourished. Together, we've created moments of joy, discovery, and inspiration that will resonate for years to come.

We look forward to another exciting year of collaboration and creativity in 2025. Wishing you a restful holiday season and a wonderful start to the new year!

Warm regards,

Lisa, Sarah and The Arts Team

Foundation

Our Foundation students have been twirling, stepping, and dancing their way down the yellow brick road! Inspired by The Wizard of Oz, they’ve been enjoying the classic story while learning choreography that’s sure to dazzle in preparation for the End of Year Performance. Students have spent some time watching the Wizard of Oz to help them understand their role in the performance.

Year 1 & 2

Our Year 1 and 2 students have been hard at work bringing creativity and teamwork to life! As they prepare for the end-of-year production, they’ve been practicing their dazzling dance routines, learning the finer points of performance etiquette, and drawing inspiration from watching the movie behind the show The Wizard of Oz. Students were fascinated to learn that the film was once seen as a high-tech masterpiece. They’ve also had the chance to support their peers by watching other year levels rehearse their dances and performances.

Students have also been collaborating in small groups to create and perform short drama pieces. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and growing confidence have been wonderful to see.

Year 3 & 4

Our Year 3 and 4 students have been immersing themselves in the magic of The Wizard of Oz as they prepare for their end-of-year performance. From practicing their roles and perfecting their routines to learning about performance etiquette, they’ve been working with dedication and enthusiasm. Students have also been participating in learning about audience etiquette and have watched other year levels perform their dances and performances.

To deepen their understanding and connection to the story, they’ve also enjoyed watching the classic Wizard of Oz movie, gaining insight into the tale’s timeless charm and bringing fresh inspiration to their performances. Students were surprised to discover that The Wizard of Oz was a technological marvel of its time.

Year 5 & 6

It’s an exciting time for our Year 5 and 6 students as they dive into preparations for the end-of-year performance. From rehearsing their performances, and mastering dance steps to exploring the importance of performance etiquette, they’ve shown incredible focus and enthusiasm. Students have participated in feedback sessions when watching other classes performing their own dances, and worked on ensuring the feedback they give to their peers is constructive.

To deepen their understanding of the story, students have been watching The Wizard of Oz movie. Students were amazed to learn that The Wizard of Oz was once considered a cutting-edge film, with its ground breaking special effects wowing audiences of its time.

Our Grade 6 students have been showcasing their artistic flair by creating beautiful paintings for their End of Year Graduation ceremony. We would like to congratulate the Grade 6 students on all their hard work this year, and wish them luck beginning High School.
