This past Wednesday the following four students, together with their book selections, were lucky-dipped as our Library Award recipients for the week:

Congratulations to:

It is wonderful to see our Library Awards box filling up - we look forward to seeing library bags on library days and adding lots more entries into it. There will be more library award lucky dip drawings next week!

Scholastic Book Club

Just a reminder that closing date for Issue 4 orders is today, Friday 13th June. Many families who placed an order in Issue 3 will have received a $5 promo code to spend this issue.

We expect that orders will be received and distributed before the end of term.

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge

Don’t forget the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is currently running, and will do so until the first Friday in September, i.e. 5/9/2025, (Term 3, Week 7). We hope that as students commence/complete their book reading that they are either entering their reading progress online at https://vprcidentity.eduweb.vic.gov.au/account/login or recording it on their reading challenge recording sheets for entering at a later time.

As a way of assisting our students and parents to recognise books which are part of the challenge, our library books are labelled with their suggested Victoria Premiers’ Reading Challenge level sticker, on the base of the spine:

The Challenge encourages children and students to read a set number of books over the year and record their efforts online and since the Challenge first began in 2005, more than 4.5 million students have read over 63 million books.

Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books.

All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the current and former Victorian Premiers’.

All students at our school are registered and have previously been sent their login details (if you’re not sure, check inside the front cover of their reading diaries).

If you’d like to know anything further about the Challenge, our school’s Challenge coordinator, Tracey Johansen will be happy to answer any questions.

Happy reading!

Author Incursion

It’s just over a week until we’ll be welcoming this year’s visiting author. Adam Wallace will be visiting our school over 2 days – Tuesday 24th June (Years 1,2,4 & 6) & Thursday 26th June (Years Foundation, 3 & 5). Thank you to all families who have already paid and returned their incursion notice – due date was 10th June.

In the coming weeks teachers will share some of Adam’s books during class and library times in the lead up to this event. Adam tells me he’s super excited to be visiting us again - I know he’s got very special news to share with us all about his newest project!

Till next time, happy reading everyone!!
