Over the past fortnight, our students have once again made us proud with their enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and curiosity.
Last week, our SSA Division Netball team represented our school with great pride, displaying fabulous sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the day. While we came away with one win from four matches in a very strong competition, the way our students conducted themselves was a true highlight. A big thank you to Krystal for coaching and supporting our netballers on the day.
Our F/1 students also had an adventure last week, as they boarded a bus for an exciting day at the Melbourne Museum. Hearing their stories and curiosity sparked by the incredible exhibits was so nice. Thank you to our F/1 team for coordinating such a valuable learning experience.
We also welcomed the Dental Van to our school this week, helping provide important preventative care for many of our students. Thank you to families for supporting this initiative.
On Thursday, a group of Year 4, 5, and 6 students took part in the SSA Hockey Tournament. It was a fantastic day of skill, teamwork, and great sportsmanship. Special thanks to Rach Moon and Mr Beaton for supporting our hockey side throughout the day.
We also have an Open Afternoon for families to join us next Thursday, July 3rd between 2-3pm to take part in 150th themed activities. Saturday, July 5th marks our official birthday date. Happy birthday to us!
Our teaching team has been working diligently over recent weeks to complete summative assessments that reflect the knowledge and skills your child has developed throughout the semester. In addition, teachers have written thoughtful and personalised comments to provide meaningful insights into each student’s academic progress, classroom behaviour, and social development. After reading all of these reports, I can confidently say that our staff know your children well.
As outlined in previous newsletters, a detailed explanation of the report format has already been shared. Please refer back to those communications if you would like further clarification.
Reports will be released via Compass.
Looking ahead, Parent/Teacher Interviews will take place early in Term 3. Bookings will open on the first day of Term 3—please be aware of Compass notifications for further details.
We would like to thank our Semester 1 JSC members for their wonderful and very successful tenure to begin the year under Mr Murrell's guidance. A trip to Moriac Kinder was no doubt the highlight of this semester.
At our first assembly of Term 3 (Week 1), we will acknowledge and present our Semester 2 representatives with their badges as they begin their leadership journey. We all know you will do a fantastic job, also.

Next week is the last week of term; therefore, this is the last newsletter for Semester 1.
Being close to the end of term, I would like to say a big thank you to all of our wonderful staff for all that they do for our students. We have an incredible crew here at Ceres who all go above and beyond to make your child's time at school the most positive and engaging it can be. Thank you also to you, our parents, for all that you do to get your children to school and for the support you offer us. I know for some, just getting the children to school is a major feat. It doesn't go unnoticed, and we are always here to support in some way.
Have a wonderful, relaxing, and safe winter holiday break, everyone.
Enjoy the connection time with your families and we will see you back in Term 3 for another exciting term.
Please note:
If you have a sibling of a current student needing to be enrolled next year, then we ask that you notify the office sooner rather than later to give us a clear indication of potential numbers.
Enrolment forms are now available from the office.
Reminder:
Our student led Assembly is today at 2:30 pm. Our assembly is an important part of our school. It is an opportunity to proactively reinforce our school values and expectations through the acknowledgement and celebration of our students and school.
FYI: Next term, newsletters will be released and Assemblies held on ODD-numbered weeks.
Have a great fortnight!
Tim Callaghan
