Refugee Week

Last week, Greater Shepparton Secondary College proudly celebrated Refugee Week, with a variety of activities designed to engage students, spark curiosity, and promote understanding and inclusion.

The week was filled with opportunities for all students to have fun while also learning more about the history, experiences, and resilience of refugees.

Each day, our Multicultural Student Leaders shared a special PowerPoint presentation during Home Group sessions, helping students across the college explore what it means to be a refugee and why Refugee Week is such an important time of recognition and reflection.

Across recess and lunch breaks, the energy continued with a range of exciting events, including a cultural dance-off, multicultural games, and a world map activity where students were invited to place a pin showing where they or their families are from visually showcasing the diversity within our college community.

Refugee Week at GSSC was not only a time for celebration but also an opportunity for students to recognise, reflect, and connect. It reminded us all of the strength in our differences and the importance of standing together in support and unity.
