Year 9 Geelong Tertiary Futures Program Wraps Up

After 3 full days at The Gordon campuses plus undertaking modules in the Work Skills online program, Oberon Year 9 students have gained lots of practical on the job skills in over 20 workplace areas. It was rewarding to see so many students rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in these workshops and finding out about pathways into these vocations. Bricks were laid, tyres changed, wires spliced, hair blown out and cupcakes iced!

Many students have completed their modules and will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment, Participation certificate and 3 modules from the WorkSafe Academy. The focus of the modules was on Workplace Safety and Communication; all great skill sets as they set out to find their first part-time jobs. We encourage all students to complete these 5 modules. The resume module will be undertaken in English classes.

Following on from here, work experience takes place in Year 10 so there will be opportunities to explore these and more pathways in greater depth.
