News from Four/Five

Tree Planting

On Tuesday, my class 4/5 and the 6’s went tree planting. We had to plant 1000 trees. So first we grabbed the plants and we had to get them out of the pot and then we had to plant them in the hole.  Then you put the soil around the plant and after that you put a white barrier around it to stop rabbits and other animals from eating the plant.   Arlo

On Tuesday, we did tree planting with the 4/5/6’s. We were first. It was very cold, down to 2°C, and everyone was chilled.

Ben came, he was a helper. He showed us how to plant them. First, he said to put them in between your fingers, then tap the bottom, then it will come out, then on the bottom you tickle the roots, and then put it in the hole, then put dirt around it, then you're done.  Quinn

At St Joe's School, we did some tree planting on Tuesday. It was amazing, but it rained for a bit. We planted 1000 plants.  Maddi

On Monday, I did the tree planting first, we went across the road and when we got there, the instructor told us to be careful.  Blake

On Tuesday, we planted some trees with the 4/5/6s. So it started off with a guy named Ben. He was there last time. Ben told us something about how special this place is. Then we started planting. We would squeeze the container then, take it out and spread the bottom roots then, we put it in the ground and put dirt on top then put a cover on then your done:)   Parker

Inquiry - Natural Disasters

In grade 4/5 we all made venn diagrams about tornadoes and cyclones and what is similar about them.  I had lots of information stored in my brain so I put the IQ to work.

I even added drawings with colour and labels so you can see what happens and what it looks like. -Amelia

Tornadoes are one of the most dangerous things known to mankind.

There are many types of tornadoes. It includes rope tornadoes, wedge tornadoes, and normal tornadoes. They are either supercell or non-supercell.

Tornadoes have multiple categories, which range from EF0, which is the weakest, causing minimal damage, to EF5, which is the strongest, causing major damage.

The middle of the USA is most commonly affected by tornadoes, with an average of 3000 per year. The tornado season in the middle of the USA is from spring to summer(March to August).   Will and Archer

Book Reports

Our class went to the library and selected a book we could read in one hour.  We then had to write about the book's setting, characters, plot and give an opinion about the book.

H. Mr Snake is the co-leader of the bad guys. 

K. Mr piranha, he’s from the Amazon.

H. Mr. Shark is fat. He sat on his friend and unfortunately passed.   

Production practice

This term at school, we have been doing production practice for a whole school musical, Madagascar. We have been practising lots of songs and scenes like It's Showtime, Best Friends, " and " I Like to Move It! I can’t wait for the show!  Noah
