Madagascar Jr @ St Joseph's School

September 2nd and September 3rd 2025

Tickets on sale Friday 25th July. Keep your eye out for the details!

Wow! The kids are looking and sounding spectacular in our rehearsals for our school Production of Madagascar Jr. The F-4 children are singing their songs beautifully, practising their facial expressions to react to the action, and have mastered many of their stage entries and exits. The 5/6 students are continuing to 'blow me away' with their characters, and are consistently doing what is asked of them ... whether that be learning lines, practising songs, remembering stage entries and exits, building, painting, choreographing dances ... the list goes on ... during each play time and performing arts class it is a pleasure to work with such fabulous students!

I know you will all support the Production and buy tickets next term to see your wonderful children on stage, however, we still require helpers to assist in making this happen! Backdrop and set painting will take place next week (during school hours - day and time TBA).  Please complete the form below, or email Ms Lisa Bourke if you wish to assist.

Costumes

Mrs Vranken and a small team have been busy sourcing and making the Grade 5/6 character costumes. We still require some help with this - if you are interested, please let us know!

Traditionally, we ask parents to provide the 'base clothing' for our F-4 costumes. Below is an outline of what items we would like you to provide for your F-4 child. It would be fantastic if we could get the bulk of children bringing these in before the end of term. Please send these items to school in a clearly named bag. These will be kept at school to use for dress rehearsals and will be taken home prior to the production.

F/1/2 Costumes

Parents to provide:

~ long black leggings / tracksuit pants

~ long-sleeve light grey shirt

The above items will have things glued on, so new is not expected!

At the end of Production, students can keep this costume or donate it to the school.  The school will provide the additional parts of the costume.

3/4 Zoo Guests and Foosa

Parents to provide:

plain bright ‘everyday’ clothes - no patterns, brand names, logos, etc. (Preferably easily pulled off without zips, etc, as it is a quick change out of this costume. These will not be damaged or altered and students will “get them back” at the end of Production.

~ black pants or leggings

~ black long-sleeve top

~ black fingerless gloves

The black items will have things glued onto them,  so new is not expected!

At the end of Production, students can keep this costume or donate it to the school. The school will provide the additional parts of the costume.

Thank you for your cooperation with this.
