Things to know

We the community members of Launching Place Primary School acknowledge the traditional owners, the Kulin nations, of the land on which we learn and play.

We pay respects to the Aboriginal Elders, past and present, who are our teachers.

We thank them for taking care of children and country for countless generations.

Community Pantry

Launching Place Primary School has established a Community Pantry to serve our community. The pantry is conveniently located in a room off the foyer and is available for your support.

You have the option to either donate goods or take any items that you may require. A variety of products, including long life milk, cereals, soups, rice dishes, and fruit, are available for your convenience. Please remember to bring your own bags.

In order to maintain a clean and respectful environment, we kindly request that you leave the space tidy and show consideration for others.

We encourage you to spread the word within the community and let them know that our support is available to them.

Students who have enrolled to attend Launching Place Primary School in Foundation 2024 are invited to this Term's transition afternoons.

The dates and times of these Afternoons are:

  • 27th of October 2.45 - 3.30pm
  • 17th November 2.45 - 3.30pm

During their time at school, students will have the opportunity to participate in various activities aimed at fostering connections with teachers and fellow students. These activities will also allow them to become more acquainted with our school facilities. It is advised that students bring a drink bottle and hat on the designated day.

Information Sessions for Parents

There will be a Prep information evening.

  • Thursday 23rd November 6.00pm - 7.00pm

Our Prep teachers and our principal provide parents with information about your child's prep transition. You will also receive a Prep information Booklet, with important information about our school and prep program, as well as tips to support your child's transition to school.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school!

Illness

Thank you for adhering to the guideline of keeping students at home when they are not feeling well. In accordance with our First Aid Policy, staff members have the authority to reach out to parents, guardians, or designated emergency contacts in the event that a student becomes unwell while at school, requesting them to pick up the student.

Current advice to schools regarding the management of Covid-19:

  • The Department of Health recommends that staff and students who test positive for COVID-19 isolate for a minimum of 5 days and do not attend school until their symptoms resolve.
  • As of 10 July 2023 schools are no longer required to record student cases of COVID-19 reported by parents or carers in the School COVID-19 Case Management Tool. This change is consistent with changes Department of Health made on 1 July 2023, removing the option for the community to self-report their rapid antigen test (RAT) results.
  • The following link provides further information about how schools manage Covid 19 from the latest update to the School Operations Guide (25 July).

Chess Club started again this term, selected Students have begun their journey learning how to play chess.

Hats

Kindly note that it is mandatory for all students to wear hats during recess and lunchtime in term 4. In the event that students do not have a hat, they will be requested to remain in an undercover area, which may restrict their activities during break times.

Headlice

I would like to urge parents to develop the practice of regularly examining their children's hair on a weekly basis to ensure a proactive approach. It would be beneficial to suggest to students with sufficiently long hair to tie it up, as this can minimize the likelihood of lice infestation. Additionally, kindly inform the school office or your child's teacher when you administer treatment for lice, so that appropriate lice alert notices can be posted on our COMPASS system.
