Readers' Theatre
At the end of Term 3, Year 7 students focussed on Readers' Theatre in English. Readers' Theatre is a strategy for developing reading fluency. It involves students in oral reading through reading parts in scripts. In using this strategy, students do not need to memorise their part; they need only to reread it several times, thus developing their fluency skills.
This was a great opportunity for students to get involved in a group activity, practise the reading fluency they have been developing, and use some props in their performance. Students were very entertaining in their Readers Theatre session, delivering a range of different theatrical performances – Cinder Really?, The Legend of Lightening Larry and Where The Wild Things Are.
