Mission to Mars

On Tuesday the 29th of August, Jolie and I took a trip to Melbourne with a selection of girls from the Girls in Stem program. We were lucky enough to be able to complete a Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC) Mission to Mars simulation. Upon arrival we were quickly greeted and given our uniform, which was a special jumpsuit.

For the first section of the day, Jolie and I were in the Mission Communications Office where we both had our different roles to play. Our task consisted of guiding one of the girls through their individual mission on Mars while making sure everything was going according to plan, as well as receiving the data our astronaut was giving us from their mission.

After a quick break it was our turn to complete our own mission on Mars. Over the top of our uniform we were dressed in a flight suit, helmet and a backpack for our oxygen. With the help of our communications team we completed the tasks easily. During the last part of the day we evaluated the data we received and managed to put together a diagram covering what it's like on Mars.
