This week in Maths, we are introducing division.  

VOCABULARY

Division

Division is when we make equal shares of a larger number.

Dividend:

The dividend is the number being divided.

Divisor:

The number of groups that the dividend is being divided by is called the divisor.

Quotient:

The answer to the division problem is called the quotient.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child how many ways we can divide 24 biscuits. You might use diagrams and either use circles or a grid to demonstrate your working out. See if your child understands that there is more than one correct answer.
