This week in Reading, Grade 3 students will be learning about Persuasive texts.

VOCABULARY

Persuasive: A persuasive text is a type of writing that tries to convince the reader to agree with an opinion.

Persuasive texts: Persuasive texts can be letters, advertisements or any writing that gives arguments for an opinion.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to look at some advertisements (these could be ads on T.V., digital media or pamphlets in your letterbox).

Ask your child to try and identify what the advertisements are trying to persuade the reader to think. Why is the author trying to persuade people?
