2023 PREMIERS’ READING CHALLENGE

This is the final week of the 2023 Premiers’ Reading Challenge. We look forward to handing out a plethora of certificates in Term Four. Well done to all students who have completed the required reading.

YEAR 2 CLASS ASSEMBLY

Next Tuesday at 10.15 am, the Year 2 class will present their 2023 Class Assembly. This will be in the Simons’ Auditorium at the Senior Campus.

HATS

As we enter spring, we ask all Junior School students to bring their hats to school. Please ensure they are named. We made a change in 2022 and had students keep their hats at school. This will again be the case in 2023. From Day 1 of Term 4, we will enforce the ‘no hat, no outside play’ policy in a bid to keep our students ‘Sun Smart’.

Every year, in Australia:

  • skin cancers account for around 80% of all newly diagnosed cancers.
  • the majority of skin cancers are caused by exposure to the sun.
  • the incidence of skin cancer is one of the highest in the world, two to three times the rates in Canada, the US and the UK.

HOCKEY

Congratulations to College Foxes who have made this Saturday’s Division 4 Grand Final with a 5-3 penalty shootout win over Demons. After a pulsating four quarters, the sides were locked together at the end of regular time. Cool heads prevailed and the Foxes’ penalty takers did a marvellous job, as did goalie Reian Patel. Foxes will play Dunkeld at 1.30 pm on Saturday.

AFL NINES

Well done to our Year 5 and Year 6 students who participated in the AFL Nine’s tournament at Pedrina Park on Friday 1 September 1. College entered girls’ and mixed teams into the competition against teams from a range of local primary schools. A big thank you to Junior School parents Todd O’Sullivan, Lachie Brown and Wal Dyer for coaching the teams. The day was a great success.

BASKETBALL SELECTION

Congratulations to Yolanda O’Sullivan and Elsie Brown in Year 6 for being selected in the Basketball Victoria Country Under 14 Gold Nugget Camp for 2023.
