Mazenod Junior Basketball Club

Teams in the Spotlight – Mazza Raiders U16

Coaches: Ace and Jacob

Players: Zac, Lucas, Lincoln, Leif, Jai, Harvey, Ethan M and Ethan M

Team Manager: Kate Piccolo

The Mazza Raiders is not made up of a collection of individuals, but rather one great team! There is not just one player that shines, each of the boys ensure that everyone on the court makes an impact during the games. They possess an outstanding ability to band together and work to overcome challenges as they develop their skills while still being able to have fun and mess around.

An outstanding player that deserves to be acknowledged is Lincoln. His quiet demeanour does not deter his great sportsmanship and work ethic. Lincoln is a team player who carries a positive attitude both on and off the court. He always tries his hardest while never being selfish.

‘Lou De Nardi’ Volunteers Award 2023- VOTE NOW

Dear MJBC community, nominations are now open for our annual volunteer’s award. Specifically, the Lou De Nardi award is an annual, peer-nominated award, that recognises an outstanding volunteer within the Mazenod Junior Basketball Club. Whether it's a coach, assistant coach, team manager, player or committee member anyone can be nominated.

Ideally, nominated candidates exhibit a commitment to the club and have made a significant contribution in their role with a positive impact, whether this is achieved in the current calendar year or over several years of their tenure. Presented at the annual Mazenod College Sportsman Dinner, the Lou De Nardi award is a wonderful opportunity for the club to acknowledge and celebrate our amazing volunteers.

If you know of a deserving individual please email the MJBC secretary at secretary.mjbc@gmail.com. Include the nominee's name, their role, the years they have been in that role and why they deserve to be nominated. Nominations close on 8 October 6pm AWST.

Thank you, the MJBC Committee.

MJBC Committee - Volunteers Needed!

The committee is calling out for volunteers. The committee’s existence heavily relies on parent volunteers with the same mindset of providing our sons with the opportunity to, not only participate in sport, but also engage in healthy behaviours and friendships. This is also an opportunity for parents to experience the same by connecting with other parents.

Sadly as the club continues to grow and develop, the workload is increasingly difficult to manage with such a small group of volunteers. The committee is made up of parents who are also full time/part time workers with families. It had come to the point that without more support, the committee may be forced to reduce the number of teams put forward for future seasons for the KDBA competition. Ideally this is not what we want to happen but it is the direction this is heading.
