From the Principal
Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Mazenod College,
As another term draws to a close, I chose the College assembly yesterday to highlight the vast array of opportunities present in our community over the past ten weeks. I shared with all gathered, the importance of reflecting of what we have experienced together, in all facets of College life from sport, the Arts, faith and in the service of others, wellbeing and care and of course, a term jampacked with teaching and learning in the classrooms.
There are too many highlights to name them all, but for me and central to our being, the celebration of the Eucharist shines bright. The willingness of our boys to actively engage in Masses, especially the Wednesday morning Mass that highlight a particular area of school life and the pinnacle this term, the Feast of the Assumption Mass to launch our Mazenod Mission Day.
In recent weeks, the ACC Athletics Carnivals were a feature of the sporting landscape and congratulations must go to our Mazenod Athletics team for their superb participation in the ‘A’ division carnival on Monday. The boys finished in 5th place of the boys division, with our senior boys finishing 3rd for their category. Thanks to our coach, Mr Tim Blake, and staff of Mr Chris Mason, Mr Tim Grabski and Mr Dave Devon for their efforts with the team.
Farewell and Best Wishes
At the end of any term, it is always sad to be saying farewell to staff but we thank Mrs Belinda Fabling who has been with us in a variety of roles since the beginning of the year. Mrs Fabling resumes her planned break for Term 4 before returning to her teaching position at St Francis College.
We also send our best wishes to Mrs Liana Angove who is taking long service leave in Term 4 before returning to us in Term One next year and to Fr Bill Ousley OMI, who flies out this afternoon to assist at Iona College in Brisbane for the next two months.
The Craftsman of the Year
One never ceases to be amazed at the incredible creativity and God-given talents of our young men and we have numerous examples where this is on display in so many areas across our community. A prime example of this is the annual Craftsman of the Year exhibition in the Provence Centre. Congratulations to the boys who have work exhibited this year, and to the Design and Technology staff, whose passion, dedication and leadership, is pivotal in guiding our boys to produce such exquisite and creative pieces of workmanship.
Year 12/2024 Student Leaders
Mazenod College is blessed to have the quality and calibre of students that I’m certain would be the envy of most schools. And whilst all of our boys have the capacity and characteristics to hold formal leadership positions in our College, it is always a special privilege to welcome our newly announced student leaders about to undertake our formal leadership positions in the next academic year.
