House Swimming Sports
The House Swimming carnival was a massive success this year, blessed with a perfect warm and overcast day that kept the energy high and sunburn away!! It was fantastic to see our students diving into a wide range of events, showing great determination in the 66m breaststroke, freestyle, and backstroke, as well as the challenging 33m butterfly. The endurance events were also a highlight, with students pushing themselves in the 100m, 200m, and 400m freestyle races. The house relays were a particular favourite, filled with school spirit and a healthy dose of competition that even saw two teacher teams take to the water to test their speed against the students.
The historical cork scramble was a hit once again, providing plenty of laughs and excitement for everyone involved. We also introduced a fresh approach to the participation lane this year, moving away from the traditional format to include three allocated ten-minute windows where houses worked together to swim as many laps as possible. It was wonderful to see the teachers getting involved for their respective houses during these blocks, truly leading by example and encouraging every student to contribute to their team's tally.
A huge well done goes out to all of our age champions for their individual achievements.
In the final standings, Bogong took the top spot with 1100 points, followed by Feathertop with 953 and Hotham with 724. We extend a sincere thank you to our parent helpers and visitors for their support, and to the Mount Beauty Bakery for providing special treats that kept everyone going.
Looking ahead, please mark your calendars with Thursday, April 2nd for our House Cross Country, followed by the House Athletics next term on Tuesday, May 12th.
