Wellbeing

Our school community has embraced our recent Kindness initiative with wonderful enthusiasm. As part of this focus, families and staff were invited to contribute to a special Kindness display on the LARC doors by decorating a flower, bee, or butterfly with a picture, word, sentence, idea or quote that reflects kindness towards others.
We would like to sincerely thank our parents and carers for your support in helping students complete this activity at home and return their creations. Your encouragement plays an important role in reinforcing the values we are nurturing at school.
The completed display is a beautiful reminder of the positive and caring culture within our community. With colourful flowers, bees and butterflies filling the doors, the message is clear—when kindness grows, everyone flourishes. Students have shared thoughtful messages about helping others, including everyone, speaking kindly and showing compassion.
This initiative is part of our ongoing focus on character strengths across the school. Each fortnight, a different strength will be highlighted and explored with the students. This fortnight at St Margaret Mary’s, our whole-school character strength focus is fairness. Fairness means treating others in a kind and just way, giving everyone a chance and following the same rules. It also means recognising that people have different needs and sometimes fairness means supporting others in different ways.
Students are encouraged to think carefully about their choices, listen to others and try to see situations from another person’s point of view. When we practise fairness, we help everyone feel respected, included and valued.
As we are reminded in the Bible: “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” — Luke 6:31.
By choosing fairness in our words and actions each day, we continue to build a school community where everyone feels they belong.
Warm regards
