Hope

In the midst of the suffering and fear caused by the current war, we hold in our hearts all those whose lives have been shattered—families separated, children who are afraid, communities living with loss and uncertainty. As a people of faith, we turn to God, trusting that his light is never overcome by darkness and that he is close to the broken-hearted. We pray for protection for the innocent, strength and comfort for those who are grieving, and for leaders who will choose dialogue, mercy and peace over violence.

Inspired by the words of Pope Leo, who reminds us that war never brings true solutions and that peace is built on justice, reconciliation and respect for human dignity, let us be people of hope—teaching our children to pray for peace, speak words that heal, and look for small ways each day to be instruments of God’s peace.

Saints

During Lent the saints are wonderful companions on our journey. As we approach the feasts of St Patrick and St Joseph, we look to their example and seek to follow God quietly and faithfully in the ordinary moments of each day, with deep faith, humility and love.

Feast of St Patrick – 17 MarchSt Patrick, patron saint of Ireland and beloved by many Catholic communities around the world, is remembered for bringing the Christian faith to the Irish people and for his deep trust in God, even in hardship and danger. He teaches us courage in sharing the Gospel, forgiveness and reliance on God’s protection and guidance, reminding us that God works powerfully through ordinary people who say “yes” to him.

Feast of St Joseph – 19 MarchSt Joseph, foster father of Jesus and husband of Mary, is the patron saint of the universal Church, workers and families. A quiet, faithful man who listened to God and protected the Holy Family with great love, he teaches us humility, hard work, obedience to God’s will and trust in God in times of uncertainty, showing that holiness is often found in simple, hidden tasks done with love and faithfulness.
