The transition from Year 2 to Year 3 has been an exciting step for our students, and they approached this change with enthusiasm and confidence. Over the first few weeks of the year, students settled into their new learning spaces, became familiar with new routines and expectations, and built strong connections with their teachers and classmates, which was wonderful to see.

To assist students with this transition they explored the importance of mental and physical wellbeing and how their everyday choices can support their overall health. Their learning focused on questions such as, “What supports my wellbeing?” and “How can I help myself or others when experiencing big emotions?” Students took part in a variety of activities including role-play scenarios, group discussions, reflection tasks and circle time, to help them develop strategies to manage emotions and support one another.

Developing confidence and a growth mindset was also an important focus, particularly as students prepared for their NAPLAN assessments. Through circle time, they explored what confidence looks and feels like, and how it helps them approach challenges, try new things and encourage others. It was fantastic to see students recognising their strengths while also identifying strategies that help them overcome challenges. The Year 3 teachers were proud of the effort and positive attitude students showed.

As part of their transition into Year 3, students worked on building positive friendships and strengthening their sense of belonging within the classroom. They learned to communicate openly, collaborate with their peers and show kindness and respect through their daily interactions. Students demonstrated their ability to adapt to the increased responsibilities of Year 3, developing their independence, organisation and time-management skills.

We are incredibly proud of how well the Year 3 students adjusted to the changes that came with moving up from Year 2. Their positive attitudes, resilience and willingness to support one another helped to create a welcoming and supportive classroom community.

We look forward to seeing them apply what they have learned this term to help them to achieve great things throughout 2026.
