NAPLAN

Our Year 3 and 5 classes will be completing their NAPLAN assessments next week. There will be a few catch-up sessions running for those students who were absent on the day of a test. As is always the case, I’m sure we will be very proud of the efforts of our students in each of their test sessions. The NAPLAN assessments always run as smoothly as possible when students come in with a great attitude and try their best. Make sure students have had a good sleep on the night of their test and a healthy breakfast in the morning, to give them the greatest opportunity to perform at their best.

The planned dates and times for the tests this year are:

Wednesday 11th March: Year 3 and 5 Writing test at 9:15 am.

Thursday 12th March: Year 5 Reading test at 9:15 am.

Friday 13th March: Year 3 Reading test at 9:15 am.

Monday 16th March: Year 3 Language Conventions test at 9:15 am

Tuesday 17th March: Year 5 Language Conventions test at 9:15 am.

Wednesday 18th March: Year 3 Numeracy test at 9:15 am.

Thursday 19th March: Year 5 Numeracy test at 9:15 am.

If students are late for school (after their class have started an assessment), they will be asked to wait at the office.

Later in the year, parents will receive their child’s results, showing performance against other students in the country.

Bikes and Scooters

It’s always great to see students making use of the warmer, drier weather to ride their bikes or scooters to school. It is important though that students remember the expectations around getting to and from the bike shed. It is expected that students walk their bikes and scooters from the moment they enter the school gates in the morning. It is much too dangerous to have students riding at speed through school grounds while students, staff and families are walking around. Similarly, students are expected to walk their bikes or scooters in the afternoon, until they are off school grounds. Students are also expected to be wearing a helmet when they arrive and leave from school. From time to time, we do have students not adhering to these expectations, at which point students lose the right to access the bike shed. The safety of our school community while on school grounds will always be a priority!
