Principal's Message

What another big two weeks at ENPS! It seems crazy how quickly the weeks are passing by, and it never ceases to amaze me just how much we manage to pack into our days at ENPS!
Capital Works Announcement
The biggest highlight and news of the past two weeks was of course the State Government announcement that we will receive $24 million to upgrade and modernise our school! This is a huge win for our school and comes after at least seven years of lobbying. We are so thrilled that we are finally receiving some major capital works for our school!
Our goal with this funding is to deliver upgrades to the Administration and main classroom wing, the development of a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) Precinct, (replacing the existing Visual and Performing Arts rooms), modernising the school and providing a learning environment that will benefit students for generations to come.
This enormous outcome reflects the strong advocacy and years of unwavering commitment from our remarkable school community. We are deeply grateful to our staff, School Council, families and the ENPS working group established to support this vision, whose dedicated efforts and lobbying of the State Government for upgraded school facilities helped make this investment possible.
We will now be working closely with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) over the coming years to see this project through. It has been exciting to already start this process, meeting this week to begin the initial stages! The planning stages will take time and at this stage, the timeline would see potential works being towards the end of 2027. I can’t wait to share updates and more information as the planning for works really begin to take place!
VIP Mother’s Day
Another highlight was our Mother’s Day VIP morning last Friday 7th May. It was so lovely to be joined in our classrooms by so many ENPS mothers, mother figures and VIPs for the afternoon. Thank you to everyone that was able to come along. We hope all our ENPS mums had a wonderful day on Sunday for Mother’s Day!
Staffing
In some exciting baby news, we congratulate new mum, Ayesha Katz and her partner Jonas on the safe arrival of a baby boy, Louie, born on Thursday 3rd May. Arriving just in time for Mother’s Day, mum and baby are doing well.
This week will make way for another ENPS baby, with Serena Walker beginning Family Leave this week. Serena and partner Wade, have their second baby due in the coming weeks. Big sister Charli is eagerly awaiting the safe arrival of her little brother or sister!
In more ENPS baby news, we have yet another baby on the way in 2026! Sian Watson and her wife, Taylah, are expecting their second baby in October.
We also wish Nicki Myszka safe travels as she heads off this week on extended leave for the remainder of the term. Nicki is travelling through Greece and Italy for five weeks! Andrew Whitby will be covering Visual Arts classes during Nicki's absence.
Throughout the course of the year, your child may also have the experience of pre-service teachers, teachers returning to the career, and/or work experience students in their classrooms. We currently have two of pre-service teachers working across Foundation and Year Two, and two more joining us next week in Year Three and Year Five from Melbourne University. We also have another in Year Six from RMIT, along with a number of high school students undertaking their high school work experience placement with us. We certainly value supporting the development of our future teachers!
Education Support (ES) Day
It was also great this week to recognise and celebrate our amazing Education Support staff at ENPS. Our ES staff comprise of our office, library, grounds, technicians, newsletter and integration aide teams. Like glue, our ES hold us all together and give their heart and soul to their roles. We are so grateful for all they do! A huge shout out and thank you to our ES team and happy ES day to them all today!
A Day in May
Next week, on Thursday 21st May, we will also hold our eleventh annual Day in May. This event is incredibly special to us at ENPS as we remember past student, Marcus Rosin, who passed away from childhood cancer in 2014. 2026 would have been Marcus’ 21st birthday, and ‘A Day in May’ will always be a time we remember Marcus and take the opportunity to raise awareness for cancer research.
For those new to our school community, you may not know the significance of a Day in May to us at ENPS. On 15th May 2014, (twelve years ago today) our school lost a true treasure and inspiration. Marcus was in Year Three and at age eight, finally succumbed to brain cancer. A battle he had fought for most of his time at ENPS. Marcus loved superheroes. He loved the Carlton Football Club, Disneyland and playing the drums. He showed everyone he came in contact with how special life was and warmed every heart with his cheeky grin. Our Performing Arts Hall is named in his honour. Our Day in May is an annual tribute to the memory of Marcus Rosin, raising money for children’s cancer research each year.
Education Week
Next week, Victorian schools will be recognising Education Week. This year’s theme, Showcase your school truly reflects our fortnightly newsletter at ENPS. Each and every edition, our newsletter is a marvellous showcase of all of the wonderful things happening at ENPS. A huge shout out to Fran, our newsletter editor, who each fortnight pulls all the magic together to showcase our incredible school!
Possum Magic
Speaking of magic, we had a little possum magic happening in the office this week! A sneaky little possum has been making a home for itself in the roof above the office, unfortunately causing all sorts of trouble with our wiring! This week we were finally able to get our local possum catcher to come and collect our furry friend, to safely relocate him in Woodlands Park.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.
