Primary School

It was wonderful to welcome so many mothers, grandmothers, and special guests to our Mother’s Day celebrations last week. The atmosphere across the school was vibrant and full of joy, and we hope all our visitors enjoyed the breakfast and pampering on offer. A special thank you to the Folk Ensemble led by Ms Erin Heycox, the Production Sneak Peek performers (Finley and Billy, Miles and Izzy), and the Mass Drumline led by Mr Kevin Kiely, who added to the celebratory spirit. We are incredibly grateful to our dedicated parent volunteers who braved the cold to prepare a delicious breakfast, as well as those who organised the much-loved Mother’s Day stall. We also extend our sincere thanks to the many local businesses who generously donated raffle prizes, and to our staff, whose support and teamwork ensured the event ran so smoothly.
PS Chapel
After the Mother’s Day breakfast and activities in the classroom, our theme of giving thanks for mothers continued in our Primary Chapel. It was an opportunity for us to learn from the mothers in the Bible and how they are examples of living for Jesus and learning the character of God. There were lots of action songs, prayers of thanks to God for our mothers, and a challenge to treasure the stories of Jesus in our hearts, just like Mary, the mother of Jesus. Our student leaders, Sophie Frazer and George Humphreys, welcomed our Primary School with a smile, composed public speaking, and soulful singing.
Spotlight on Kindergarten
The Kindergarten students are moving full steam ahead in their learning as we approach the midpoint of Term 2. It has been wonderful to see the progress they are making, particularly in their reading, as they continue to build confidence, fluency, and comprehension skills.
We are incredibly grateful for the parent helpers who have been supporting reading in the mornings. We would love to welcome more volunteers to assist during this time. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to become registered volunteers at our school, and for more information about how to become a volunteer, please contact the Primary Office via email at psreception@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au. A reminder to volunteers to sign in at the office on the mornings they are available to read. We truly value these connections between home and school and greatly appreciate your ongoing support.
We would also like to congratulate Owen, Billie M, Hazel, Alby, Cruz, and Devin for being our Kinder Superstars this week. Well done, everyone!
GRIP Leadership
Today, our Year 6 Student Leaders had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the annual GRIP Leadership Conference in Shepparton. This highly regarded program brings together student leaders from across the region, providing a valuable platform for collaboration, connection, and shared learning. Throughout the day, our students engaged in a range of dynamic and interactive sessions designed to strengthen their leadership skills and confidence. They were encouraged to reflect on what it means to be an effective leader, to consider the impact they can have within our school community, and to explore practical strategies for leading with purpose and integrity.
A key focus of the conference is to inspire students to develop a clear vision for their leadership journey. By the end of the day, our Year 6 leaders came away with a deeper understanding of their roles, fresh ideas, and a renewed sense of enthusiasm about how they can contribute positively throughout the remainder of the year. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented our school and look forward to seeing them bring their learning to life in the weeks and months ahead.
Stage 1 Assembly
The Stage 1 Assembly, held on May 6, was proudly hosted by students in Year 2B, who did a wonderful job presenting to their Stage 1 peers. As part of their class item, 2B shared their learning about onomatopoeia, showcasing the creative hybrid animals they had designed and entertaining the audience with the very strange sounds their unusual creatures made. Congratulations to the Stage 1 Superstars who were recognised at the Assembly for making such a positive start to the term.
