Be Kind

Be Responsible

Be an Active Learner

Be Kind by using positive intent and building an awareness of others.

Over the next two weeks, our school community will be focusing on our school value of Be Kind. Kindness is more than using polite words or helping a friend, it is also about how we think about, understand, and respond to others.

A key focus in classrooms will be positive intent. This means encouraging students to consider that others are usually trying their best and may not have meant to upset, or frustrate someone. When we choose to believe positive intent in others, it often helps us solve problems more calmly, communicate respectfully, and respond with understanding.

We will also be supporting students to build a greater awareness of others—recognising that people may be feeling different emotions, have different needs, or be experiencing situations differently to ourselves. Developing this awareness helps students build empathy, strengthen friendships, and make thoughtful choices in their interactions with others.

Through class discussions, role-play activities, and everyday learning opportunities, students will explore how showing kindness, considering different perspectives, and giving others the benefit of the doubt can help create a safe, inclusive, and positive school community.

We encourage families to continue these conversations at home by asking your child how they can show kindness, notice how others may be feeling, and respond with care and understanding. Together, we can help our students build strong relationships and a connected school community.
