As we reach the end of Semester 1, I would like to acknowledge the hard work, resilience and achievements of our students and staff throughout what has been a productive and rewarding semester.

Across our VCE, VCE Vocational Major (VM), VPC and Year 10 Pathways programs, students have continued to work diligently towards their academic and personal goals. From SACs, coursework and practice examinations to workplace learning, community projects and leadership experiences, students have shown maturity, determination and a willingness to challenge themselves.

A particular highlight for our VCE students has been completing their practice examinations. These experiences have provided valuable opportunities for students to test their knowledge, refine examination techniques and identify areas for future growth. With Semester 2 beginning on Monday, our Year 12 students now enter the final phase of their secondary schooling journey, while our Year 11 students continue building the skills and confidence that will support their future success.

Our VCE VM students have also enjoyed a highly successful term, participating in a range of meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom. Year 12 students recently completed the P.A.R.T.Y. (Prevent Alcohol and Risk-related Trauma in Youth) Program at Latrobe Regional Health, gaining powerful insights into the importance of making safe and informed decisions. Students also demonstrated outstanding leadership by planning and facilitating activities for visiting Year 7 students from the Churchill Campus, showcasing their communication, teamwork and organisational skills while strengthening connections across the College.

Within our VPC and Year 10 Pathways programs, students have continued to thrive through applied learning experiences that connect classroom learning with real-world opportunities. Students proudly represented the College during Reconciliation Week celebrations at the Hazelwood Estate, where they shared their work with visitors and community members. Many students have also undertaken work experience placements throughout the Latrobe Valley, gaining valuable industry exposure and developing important employability skills.

Community engagement has remained a strong focus this term. Through the Community Garden Program and volunteer activities at the Churchill Neighbourhood Centre, students have contributed to local projects, supported community events, and developed essential workplace capabilities, including teamwork, communication, initiative, and problem-solving. These experiences help students build confidence while reinforcing the importance of giving back to the wider community.

Term 2 has also provided opportunities for students to connect socially and celebrate their achievements. The 2026 Senior Formal was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the year. The Paris-inspired event showcased the creativity, leadership and organisational skills of our students and provided a fitting opportunity to acknowledge the positive relationships that make our campus community so special.

Our Student Representative Council has also been highly active throughout the term, leading initiatives that promote inclusion, wellbeing and community awareness. Students proudly recognised IDAHOBIT Day, celebrating diversity and fostering a culture of acceptance and belonging. The SRC has also launched participation in the June Push-Up Challenge, encouraging students and staff to support positive mental health while engaging in physical activity.

With the upcoming school holidays, I encourage all students to take time during the break to rest, recharge and reflect on their achievements. Success is built not only through hard work, but also through balance, resilience and maintaining positive wellbeing.

I would like to thank our dedicated staff for their ongoing commitment to supporting every student and providing the diverse learning opportunities that make our campus such a vibrant place to learn. I also congratulate our students on the effort, perseverance and enthusiasm they have demonstrated throughout this semester, and we look forward to an exciting and successful Semester 2.
