Year 8 Textiles

Year 8 Textiles students have stepped into the world of high fashion, transforming the classroom into a runway of imagination, creativity, and couture-inspired design.
Drawing inspiration from the beauty of nature, students explored themes including flowers, forests, oceans, insects, birds, and botanical forms to develop unique fashion concepts. Using traditional croquis templates as the foundation for their work, students experimented with the role of a fashion designer, carefully considering silhouette, texture, colour, and embellishment in their creations.
The final designs were spectacular, with many appearing worthy of the Met Gala red carpet. Students showcased extraordinary creativity through dramatic gowns, avant-garde accessories, layered fabrics, and intricate surface details inspired by the natural world.
To bring their visions to life, students used a range of mixed techniques including paint markers, coloured pencil, fine liner, and watercolour. These layered approaches allowed students to create rich textures, vibrant colour palettes, and detailed decorative effects within their fashion illustrations.
The project encouraged students to combine artistic skill with imaginative thinking while developing an understanding of fashion illustration and design process. The final pieces highlighted not only technical ability, but also the confidence and originality emerging within our budding young designers.
