Sport News

Welcome back to PE and Sport for 2024!

We hope this newsletter finds you in high spirits as we embark on an action-packed school year! We are thrilled to be back running, jumping and skipping around the yard and particularly excited to be back learning about many different ways to move our bodies!

Exciting Activities for Term 1

In Years 3 to 6, our students are launching the year by learning about Taekwondo and self-defense during the first half of the term. The excitement in the air is wild as our budding martial artists gear up for an empowering and educational experience. This focus not only promotes physical well-being but also cultivates discipline, resilience, and self-confidence. We are very fortunate to have the program provided by Sport Schools Victoria and Malvern Taekwondo Club through our government grant.

For our Year 1 and 2 students, it's all about Net and Wall sports. Hot shot tennis is taking center stage, providing an opportunity for our little ones to develop hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and a love for the game. The courts are alive with the sounds of laughter and friendly competition. We will focus on making sure we know how to volley the ball back to our partners and to hit a forehand over the net to have a rally! We will also have a try of Lacrosse for a bit of fun!

Foundation Classes and Perceptual Motor Program:

Our Foundation classes are embarking on their Perceptual Motor Program (PMP), an engaging initiative designed to enhance motor skills, coordination, and overall physical development. Beginning in week 3, they will navigate through various activities, laying the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of movement. Parents are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to help with the running of the sessions; sheets are on the windows of respective classrooms and we are requesting 4 or 5 parents per session! Please sign up as soon as possible!

Here's to a year filled with energy, teamwork, and achievements in the realm of physical education and sports!

Stay active, stay healthy!
