From the Art Room...

Welcome to the Art Room

I thought I would take this opportunity to welcome new and not so new families to the Art program. All students come to the art room for weekly lessons where we engage with a wide variety of processes and materials. The curriculum runs on a two year cycle, so within this time students will cover areas such as drawing, painting, construction, fibre, sculpting and printing. We also undertake a Media Arts unit. Our projects range from quick one lesson activities to more in depth studies of a concept which will require several weeks.

As well as our weekly classes, students will have opportunities to participate in art shows, incursions, assembly presentations and Art Club on a Friday at lunchtime. Two of our senior students are also selected each year as Art Captains to represent and promote the arts within the school.

Please feel free to come to the art room to discuss any matters relating to your child's artistic journey. I encourage families to offer their children time and materials for free art exploration at home. This could be as simple as arranging found nature objects out in the garden or using pen and paper to follow along with a guided drawing video. The benefits to fine motor skill development and mental well being are immense.
