Welcome Back

The F-6 staff would like to send a warm welcome to all returning and new students and families to the 2024 school year. In particular we welcome our 3 new Foundation students.

We have many exciting lessons and events planned, so are looking forward to the year ahead.

Foundations Attendance Days

Just a reminder that the Foundation students do not have to attend school on Wednesdays for the month of February. Therefore the 7th, 14th, 22nd and 28th of February are no school days.

We have found this to be very beneficial for our young students starting off their first year of school as it allows them time to gradually become integrated into our busy school program. Foundation students will commence their first full school week commencing Monday 4th March 2024.

F-6 Monday Morning Assembly

Assemblies will be held every Monday morning at 9am, the first of these assemblies took place on Monday 5th February, just outside the Primary building (or inside if the weather is not favourable). Parents are very welcome and encouraged to attend to celebrate achievements and happenings.

Hats and Uniform

Students are required to have hats as outlined in our Sun Smart policy – no hat, no play. Hats are available through the office. All new students are given their first hat by the College Parents Club.

If parents are finding it difficult to supply children with the correct uniform, please contact Jess McGurk for assistance. The college also has a second-hand uniform shop with quality items at $2 a garment. Contact Heidi Gibbeson at the college to arrange a time.

Student Attendance

It is important that students attend school regularly. In the past we have had students take a day off here and there to go shopping or visit someone. These days quickly add up and greatly effect learning. Research tells us that students who are absent from school for more than 5 days a month put their learning at risk. We realise absence is unavoidable, as children often get sick, and the best place for them during this time is at home to allow them to get well and reducing the spread of illnesses. It is important that student attend on all other occasions. If your child is away for whatever reason, please let the College know via the Compass App (see details at the start of the bulletin) or call the Office, otherwise the school will make a contact phone call to establish the nature of the absence. The school has to code absences in various categories. If your child is absent for more than 3 days, teachers will contact you to see if work is required.

Home Group Teachers

Staff are readily available to discuss questions or concerns that may arise throughout the year. Contact can may made through Communication Books (F-2) or Student Diaries (3-6), in person or through phone contact.
