Collection of Students

Schools have a legal duty of care to all students and must ensure their safety at all times. This includes the safe collection of students during normal school hours.

Students must not leave the school grounds between the hours of 9am and 3.15pm unless signed out by a parent or guardian. Parent/s or Guardians must collect the student from the main office where they can be officially signed out.

Exception to this expectation:

Year 12 students, whose parent or guardian has given written consent, for the year, for them to leave the school property to go down the street. This is a privilege granted to year 12 students. These students MUST sign out when they leave, and sign back in again upon their return, at the main office. This should generally be restricted to lunch time. Study periods must be avoided, but it is reasonable for a student to go down the street for a total of approximately half an hour per week. As young adults, Year 12 student are expected to monitor how much time they spend away from the school grounds and self-regulate if necessary.

No student may take orders from any other students to make purchases down the street.

It is important to note that the above outlies privileges afforded to Year 12 students at Charlton College, not rights. If any of the above expectations are breached, all privileges will be revoked.
